

I’ve been thinking about mission statements lately and it’s going to get worse before it’s all over. I’m usually on the consultant side of the process when working with nonprofit clients, which is very interesting.

Every nonprofit can relate to the constant struggle of trying to run effective programs AND raise unrestricted dollars to support those programs. If you’re like most nonprofits, you’ve encountered donors who just don't understand that unrestricted funds are required to sustain the programs donors love.

With the energy brought by a new year, organizations are always eager to launch new initiatives to make this year bigger and better than the last. One of the most popular resolutions is getting started or augmenting existing efforts in online engagement and fundraising.

I know, I know. I’m still writing 2014 on my checks, too (yes, I still write checks; who doesn’t?) So what’s this about 2016? I’m suggesting that we keep next January in mind as we begin our work this year, that’s all.
