I recently had the chance to participate in a weeklong nonprofit leadership course at Duke University. The Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership offers experienced nonprofit professionals the opportunity to increase their capacity for effective entrepreneurial leadership through theoretical studies and executive skills training.

On Monday night I had requests to be three places, all at once. It’s happened to us all, especially in this Fall season when we are gearing up for many great things. I agonized over one of the requests. It was to fill in for another leader who was out to town and help kick off the giving campaign. And It was for a group I am passionate about, and I love to help. But in the end, I said “no, I am so sorry I can’t be there.”

As we say in the South, it’s fall, y’all. Time for tailgates, pumpkin patches, and hay rides. And in the non-profit sector, it’s time for giving days. Giving Tuesday is the most well know of course, but higher education and independent schools also have alumni giving days tied to big rivalry games or anniversaries. Whatever your big giving day is, are you ready for what comes after?
Whether you’re ready to expand your organizational capacity and move forward with purpose, or just want to talk shop, we’d love to connect.
