If you have spent even a bit of time with me, you know I have a plan for everything. I like to play out different scenarios. I document the strategy, state the goals, and play with the fonts to make it look pretty. Who says planning is not fun?
Inflation and the possibility (if not current reality!) of a recession are huge challenges to raising funds for nonprofit organizations. With inflation currently over 9%--a 40-year high—and the equity markets like the S&P 500 down over 20% year to date, nonprofit leaders are justifiably concerned about raising the funds necessary to support their important work.
Growing up I was involved in a lot of different activities that involved practicing. Whether it was sports, school subjects, skills for Boy Scouts, or learning lines for school plays, there was always something to practice. I was always told that practice makes perfect or that practice gets you as close to perfect as possible, so that was how I went about getting better at just about everything. I practiced, made corrections, and repeated, all to get better at whatever activity was going on at that time.
